    • AMERICAIN wins the 150th running of the Melbourne Cup.

    Trained by Alain de Royer and ridden by Gerald Mosse the 6 year old entire by DYNAFORMER raced 3 wide with cover, he followed the favorite SO YOU THINK into the straight overcoming him at the clocktower and went on to win brilliantly by 2 3/4 lengths, MALUCKYDAY was also impressive finishing solidly for second, he stamped himself as a talent on the rise.

    SO YOU THINK was a 1/2 length away in third a fantastic run after lining up three times in 10 days. HARRIS TWEED battled away well for fifth after looking a good chance at the 300m. It was truly an International result, AMERICAIN was breed in America, he is trained in France, ridden by a Hong Kong based French jockey and owned by Australians Gerry Ryan and Kevin Bamford.
