BARINKA TOUGHBARINKA won the Listed Westbury Classic at Ellerslie on Wednesday and did it the hard way. She drew wide and when they settled she was midfield and wide, continuing to improve three wide she was handy turning for home, it seemed to take a while to get going in the straight and she was held up for that last sprint which she duly won and went to the line to win by a short neck, HER ROYAL HIGHNESS was second with QUEEN SABEEL a long head away in third. Hayden Tinsley, " Got to give her a lot of credit, drawn one from the outside I've gone forward and tracked three wide but she stuck on really good." Karen Zimmerman, " Beautiful ride by Hayden, he knows the horse and knows what sprint she's got. In the handicaps she get weighed right out of it, to be fair she has only won two Listed races, I think she has been quite harshly treated in the Handicaps but these races suit her." She will now go to the Group 1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Te Aroha on 9th April. Media Images![]() ![]() |
