  • BOOMING flew over the final stages to win the G.1 ZABEEL Classic.

Trained by Jeff Lynds and ridden in a catch ride by Vinny Colgan who gained the opportunity after illness retired Opie Bosson after the first race. Colgan did a great job and settled BOOMING on the rail with only four horses behind him. He had a wall of horses in front of him on the home turn but managed to extract BOOMING to finish down the outside. The 6 year old gelding by DON EDUARDO flew over the final 200m to overhaul RED RULER who was a long neck away in second and GINGA DUDE a short neck back in third, SHARP PRINCESS was a further three quarters of a length back in fourth.

Trainer Jeff Lynds interviewed after the race said, " He's a great horse this, he's got a lot of potential. We were going to take him to Melbourne but we had the weights against us, it was a blessing in disguise." It is now the plan to qualify in New Zealand and try to get him a start in the Melbourne Cup.
