  • Experienced teams Premier prospects

Bradbury Park has made it to the big time at Karaka with its first Premier Sale draft in just its second year of operation.

Casey and Michelle Dandos Matamata farm will offer three top tier youngsters at the National Yearling Sales, the couple has a wealth of experience in the thoroughbred industry. Casey whose late father Ron was a trainer, has previously worked for John Sadler in Australia, enjoyed five seasons at Cambridge Stud, a spell as broodmare manager at Trelawney Stud, and was also Blandford Lodges farm manager for four years.

A daughter of successful jockey John Messent, Michelle was formerly Sir Patrick Hogans personal assistant and her grandfather Ian Bradbury was also a well known and respected Central Districts trainer, hence the name of their farm. We've always wanted to branch out on our own and we really are living the dream now, Michelle said.

Bradbury Park covers 80 acres with weaning and handling and agistment services offered as well as sales preparation. Casey and Michelle will present a trio of yearlings during the Premier session in 2012 and one of them has close ties with the property.

We've got a filly by DON EDUARDO who is a half sister to SWORN TO SECRECY, Casey said. They are pretty similar types and this one's got a great constitution. A homebred by KEEPER, SWORN TO SECRECY was sold through Poplar Lodges Ready to Run Sale consignment two years ago for $NZ52,000 and won two of her four starts from Andrew Scott's Matamata stable. Out of the CASUAL LIES mare HEARTACHE, who has five runners for four black-type performers and is a three-quarter sister to the Wellington Guineas-Gr2 winner MARROK, she then transferred to John O'Shea's Randwick yard and earlier this year won the Emancipation Sakes-Gr2.

We've also got a STRAVINSKY filly out of PERFECT EVENING and she's a cracking individual. She's a real professional in everything she does. Her Irish-bred dam is by the mighty SADLERS WELLS out of a mare by the great SIR IVOR. A daughter of KEEPER, out of well related ISMAILIA, completes Bradbury Park's Premier Sale team. She's a nice , leggy filly who's going to make a lovely autumn three year old. By ZABEEL, ISMAILIA won five races and is a sister to ABLE MASTER (Auckland-Cup Gr1) EXAGGERATE (Singapore Barker Trophy-Gr2, Queen Elizabeth Cup-Gr2) and ACCUMULATE (VCR St Leger-Gr3).

Featured among the Select draft is a son of SHOW A HEART out of LADY DANZERO, who is a half sister to the multiple stakes winner ZOOMETRIC. He's a really good type and a really sensible colt,” Casey said. His two year-old sister DISCREET recently finished second on debut in Brisbane. Another filly from the SWORN TO SECRECY family is the daughter of ANY SUGGESTION. She's a big girl with a laid back nature. She is out of a half sister (ex HEARTACHE by CAPE CROSS) to the Emancipation Stakes winner.

The THORN PARK filly out of RIVER CHANT is a really tidy individual and she's hard to fault. The dam is by DANASINGA and won six races including the Tauranga Classic-LR and is from the family of DANDY ANDY (Australian Cup Gr.1,Doomben Cup-Gr1),BALLROOM BABE (Captain Cook Stakes-Gr.1,Ellerslie Sire's Produce Stakes-Gr.1,Manawatu Sire's Produce Stakes-Gr.1) and JUST DANCING (Furious Stakes-Gr.2). Bradbury Park will also present a STRAVINSKY filly out of the ZABEEL mare DAWN RHAPSODY. The dam is a half sister to ALACRITY (NZ Oaks-Gr.1) who is in turn the mother of PENDRAGON (Norman Robinson Stakes-Gr3, Gloaming Stakes Gr.3), who has made an encouraging start to his stud career. This also represents the family of the Golden Slipper Stakes winner and influential MARSCAY.
