BRUCE ALMIGHTY takes the Group 2 Waikato Times Gold CupA change in racing tactics by trainer Stuart Manning of Tauranga payed off in trumps and saw BRUCE ALMIGHTY win the Waikato Times Gold Cup in fine style. He had raced well early in his career without blinkers and off the pace so it was decide to remove the blinkers. Stuart felt that everyone expected him to lead and he was being set up as the pacemaker. In a great ride by top jockey Michael Coleman he began well and was held together to settle and trail the early leader SEAFLYTE. He was pulled off the heals of the leaders on the home turn and showed true grit to fight off his challengers and go to the line brilliantly winning by three quarters of a length, DAWN GOST was second with TINSELTOWN a half length away in third. BRUCE ALMIGHTY is the winner of 14 races, he is setting a record to become the Cups King, to this date he has won Seven Cup races and been placed in Four. Settling off the pace could well be the recipe for more Cup success as he now prepares to take on the Gr.2 City of Auckland, Gr.2 Wellington and the Gr.1 Auckland Cups. Media Images![]() |
