    • The Listed ILT Ascot Hotel Southland Guineas was taken out by 51-1 shot CHAMPAGNE NEEDED. His form into the race was quite solid so he slipped past the punters to record a 2 1/2 length win.

    Trained by Shane Kennedy and ridden by Ryan Bishop the 3 year old colt by NO EXCUSE NEEDED led all of the way, favorite MILO mounted a challenge turning for home but he had been knocked over at the start and the day was not to be his, a pity for his connections as he was up for the 100k triple crown bonus.

    CHAMPAGNE NEEDED ran away for a comfortable win, MISS MAXIMUSS was 2 1/2 lengths away in second with HARRY TRIMBOLE flying home to be a 1/2 head back in third.

    Shane Kennedy " We were really happy with him leading into the race Ryan Tristol has ridden him all the way through with his trackwork and he kept saying he just feels better and better, we went in without being over confident. MILO is a very good horse and still is, we're very happy to take the win."
