    • HIDDEN ASSET took out the G.2 Classic Hits Championship Stakes for 3 year olds at Ellerslie on New Years Day.

    Trained by Shaune Ritchie and ridden by James McDonald the 3 year old gelding by HIGH CHAPARRAL drew wide and settled one off with four horses behind him. He was pulled off heels of the leaders on the home turn and set alight down the outside, he suffered a check by HOT PURSUIT half way down and finished off wide out going to the line to win by a neck, HOT PURSUIT was second with YOUREIN a further neck away in third.

    Interviewed after the race trainer Shaune Ritchie said, "He's a stunning horse, does a lot wrong, he's got a bit to learn but the raw talent is there.
