ICEPIN the Avondale Guineas

    • A bit underrated by the punters at 27-1 ICEPIN took out the Group 2 Avondale Guineas at Ellerslie on Saturday.

    The gelding by PINS - ICE MAIDEN is trained by Jason Bridgman and was ridden by Danielle Johnson. He was three wide leaving the straight and kept improving to go up outside leader STARCHEEKA going down the back, he hit the front turning for home and put a two length break on them, it was a brilliant finish as he held on to win by a length after having to work hard early. ON THE LEVEL was second with SIERRA NEVADA 1 1/4 lengths away in third, both placed horses finishing well.

    Trainer Jason Bridgman, " For us at home we're really rapt for the horse, he's been running huge races all season, I have been really looking forward to him stepping up to middle distance like today, I really had a gut feeling he was going to perform well and I'm just rapt for everyone involved."
