IT'S GREAT TO SEE A CHAMPIONThey turned out in there hordes at Doomben in Brisbane to see the Champion mare BLACK CAVIAR win her 13th race in succession. She settled in third position and made her run coming around horses and challenging HAYLIST early in the run home, she overcame him at the 200 meter mark and went on to win brilliantly by 2 lengths, HAYLIST was once again courageous in second and it was a further 4 3/4 lengths back to BUFFERING in third. BLACK CAVIAR ran the 1200 meters in 1.08.85 on a Dead track. BLACK CAVIAR is a 4 year old mare by BEL ESPRIT - HEISINGE, she is trained by Peter Moody and was ridden by Luke Nolan. Peter Moody, " She hasn't let us down yet so she makes my job petty easy, she's a wonderful horse, she just rolled around the turn got a little off balance again as she did at Randwick, but when she flattened out, you know she's not beaten any mug there she has probably beaten the best sprinter in the world bar her. It's tremendous, it's just great to showcase her to the Australian racing public. Now Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have had that opportunity. Look around here today she's just terrific for the sport. There's people that wouldn't have been to the races for 50 or 60 years here today and people have travelled from all over Australia." An emotional Luke Nolan, "That's the first emotion, just with this mare, just relief, she's sort of had the microscope on her for a long while now and once she wins I think Peter and myself just breath a little easier."
