  • The Group 1 Windsor Park Plate was taken out in fine style by JIMMY CHOUX at Hastings on Saturday.

He settled in sixth position one off the fence, a good effort after drawing three from the outside. Settled until they turned for home he was hooked out to make his run down the outside, looming up at the 200 meter he showed his great turn of foot to claim MUFHASA close to the line and come away to win decisively. MUFHASA who led them up and fought right to the line was 3/4 of a length away in second, it was 3/4 of a length back to HOLD IT HARVEY who settled on the fence with four behind him and made his run on the inside of JIMMY CHOUX in the straight.

JIMMY CHOUX is a 4 year old entire by THORN PARK - CIERZO, he is trained by John Bary and was ridden by Jonathan Riddell on his 33rd birthday.

John Bary," A little bit of pressure, I probably put it on myself declaring him in Australia that he would win but he's done it. Just good to have him back. We knew where he was in his fitness, it was a great gallop on Tuesday and Jonathan's just ridden him a treat once again, hey you can't keep a good horse down aye. I think JIMMY'S turn if foot is really underestimated, we've seen it and Jonathan knows it, he just uses it to devastating effect and we've done it there. I think he can just crank it up another notch, we've needed to perform today which we've done. We've got to get to Australia, that will take some out of him and then maybe Hong Kong in time, we will take it one day at a time but he's done what I thought he would do."

Jonathan Riddell," It all just panned out how I wanted it, it makes it easy when you are riding a horse like JIMMY you can trust him, I don't know just what it is but it makes the job a lot easier. Yea it's my birthday but this was about the only present I wanted. On Tuesday I came across and galloped him and John didn't have a mate for him, the work he had it was probably just as well because I don't think another horse would have kept with him. This is his third season of tough racing and look he just keeps stepping up, he enjoys the game and he's got such a big heart, as I said earlier it makes my job easier, it makes John's job easier, it's a dream. The Hawkes Bay should be very proud to have a horse like this, he's got a great following, I don't know whether it's his name or a battling rider like me is riding him and a trainer that is just starting out. I dunno it's a bit of a fairy tale story and he just keeps stepping up and making us look good."

His next start will be in the Cox Plate in Melbourne on October 22nd.
