  • JIMMY CHOUX flew the Kiwi flag high when taking out the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas in Sydney on Saturday.

He jumped well and was settled in fifth position one off the fence, he came out on the home turn to get a crack at the leaders and wound up from the 300 meter mark hitting the lead at the 100 and going away to win well like the good horse we new he was. Racecaller, "An outstanding win."

TV Presenter, "Could be one of the great 3 year olds JIMMY CHOUX, he's bloused them here in the Rosehill Guineas, that was a super performance by him."

The 3 year old colt by THORN PARK - CIERZO is trained by John Bary and was ridden by Jonathan Riddell. He has now had 17 starts for 10 wins.

John Bary," Yeah look it's good, we knew he was good back home, to perform over here it's just really great we have got the whole country behind us, it's awesome. I thought that Jonathan rode him absolutely perfectly, I didn't give him any instructions I said you know the horse, he had a great spot and he's got a great turn of foot like I said he had and he's got a big heart, that horse just does not know how to lye down. I think we will crack on to the AJC Derby, there's our opposition we've seen there today, there may be a few more to come out of the woodwork, against our own age group we can keep our jockey on, at this point in time it is the AJC Derby."

Jonathan Riddell," About the 1000 he was traveling a bit to good for himself so I had to wait for a bit until the top of the straight, I thought the one in front of us kicked away from us a bit, I just gave him a couple behind the saddle then I just knew he was going to pick them up. It's just probably a bit more of a relief, there was a bit of pressure, they didn't need to bring me over and put me on, to their credit they have stuck with me and you don't want to let those sort of people down and yeah it's pretty emotional stuff." When asked if he is the best horse you have ridden, " Of course he is, I don't get the opportunity to ride horses half this good, he's my champion anyway, probably a little early to be calling him that but that's how I think of him anyway."
