MR TIPSY wins Marton Cup

    • The Listed Gallagher Group Marton Cup was taken out by MR TIPSY on Saturday at Awapuni.

    Trained by Murray & Bjorn Baker the 6 year old gelding by MONTJEU had previously been placed in both Auckland and Sydney Cups. He had been working really well and connections were confident of a bold run.

    Oppie Bosson gave him the perfect run the whole way. " When he's on his game he's hard to beat. He had me a bit worried across the top and hit a flat spot but once we balanced up we really hit the line well, running away from them. "

    CAN'T KEEPER DOWN was unlucky being trapped three wide most of the trip and finished well to be 1 3/4 lengths back in second. HE'S UNDER THE GUN was on the pace outside the leader and battled gamely to be a nose away in third.
