MUFHASA wins the G.1 Waikato Draft SprintMUFHASA took out his 5th Group 1 when winning the Waikato Draught Sprint at Te Rapa on Saturday. Dubbed as the race of the season COUP ALIGN led them up setting a strong pace. MUFHASA settled second and ran away from his opposition in the straight to win his 5th Group 1 in dominant fashion, he went to the line to score by 1 3/4 lengths. WALL STREET was second with KEEP THE PEACE 1 1/4 lengths away in third. The 1400m was run in 1.21.09 The 6 year old gelding by PENTIRE - SHEILA CHEVAL was produced in magnificent condition by trainer Stephen McKee, interviewed after the race he said, " Probably out of the big guns he was really the hardened horse in the race, the way the race played out with the speed in front it's really played into his hands. It takes a good horse to win five group ones, when you do that you are getting up amongst the best horses of recent times." Jockey Sam Spratt, " He just travelled up to him, got to the 200 meters and I could have half pie done a hands and heels on him the whole way but I thought I better give him a couple anyway.
