RED RULER gets his Group 1

    • RED RULER won the Darci Brahma International Stakes giving him his first Group 1 victory.

    The 6 year old gelding by VIKING RULER - RANSOM BAY was settled by jockey Mark Du Plessis in third position on the rail with favorite BOOMING keeping a close eye on him in fifth. ARAKTI led into the straight but unfortunately broke down early in the straight leaving SHARP PRINCESS in front. RED RULER hit the front at the 200 meter with BOOMING looming as his biggest challenger on the outside. Fighting well he went to the line to win by three quarters of a length. BOOMING was second with PASSCHENDAELE the other John Sargent runner a short head away in third.

    Trainer John Sargent interviewed after the race, " If any horse deserves a Group 1 it's this horse, he's the stable favorite, it's the greatest thrill I've had I think."
