SCARLET LADY wins the Queensland OaksSCARLETLADY produced a dazzling display to win the Queensland Oaks 2,400m at Eagle Farm. Sent out favorite she showed a dynamic turn of foot to sprint from the back of the 17 horse field to defeat Becerra ($26) by 2 1/2 lengths, with a further 1 1/4 lengths back to fellow Kiwi Shez Sinsational in third. Graeme Rogerson,"Let's hope we can go on now, she might be something special. I said she was unbeatable and I said she had a lot on those other horses." Rogerson who trained Scarlett Lady's sire SAVABEEL, the 3 year old the trainer famously declared four days before his Cox Plate win in 2004. Rogerson has yet to decide if he will back her up against the male s next week in the Derby. He looks to have a dominant hand in the Derby, as Scarlett Lady now joins his gelding Shootoff atop the markets. The victory was also the first Group One in Australia for boom New Zealand apprentice James McDonald. It was also the first Group 1 winner for sire SAVABEEL. He says he would love to see Scarlett Lady at Eagle Farm next Saturday. "It's up to the trainer and the owner, but if it was up to me, I'd love to see them have a crack, "I wasn't too worried that I was so far back today. I knew I was on the best horse."
