SHOWCAUSE win the Avondale Cup

A true staying performance saw SHOWCAUSE take out the Group 2 Cardinal Logistics Avondale Cup at Ellerslie on Saturday.

The 5 year old gelding by GIANT'S CAUSEWAY - SHOWELLA is trained by Frank Ritchie and was ridden by Darryl Bradley. He settled back 12th in the running and took off at the 1200 meters, rolling forward three wide he challenged the leaders turning for home and put a break on the field, he held on gallantly to win by a length. INNOCENT LADY was second with LOOSE CHANGE a nose away in third.

Trainer Frank Ritchie, " I thought it was a huge effort. I did say to Darryl, try and be handy but don't panic and if you do get back early because I suspected there would be some early pace, just work it for yourself."

SHOWCAUSE will go into the Auckland Cup as the $6 second favorite.
