SMOULDER takes the Eight Carat

    • In a tight finish SMOULDER took out the G2. Cambridge Stud Eight Carat Classic for the fillies.

    Trained by Graeme and Mark Sanders and ridden by Chad Ormsby the 3 year old filly by TRADITIONALLY settled seventh one off the rail, she was drawn wide on the home turn and rallied well in the straight, there were several winning chances at the 100m mark but she pulled away to win in a tight finish, BANCHEE was a half head away in second with ANNIE HIGGINS three quarters of a length back in third.

    Interviewed after the race Graeme Sanders said " She's always been a good filly and just didn't have a lot of luck in the early stages of her preparation this time in."
