VEYRON takes the Easter in StyleThe Group 1 Easter was taken out by VEYRON in fine style at Ellerslie on Saturday. He jumped well and settled in second position early, making his run down the centre of the track in the home straight the race was his from the 200 meter mark and he ran away to win impressively by 3 lengths, FEARS NOTHING finished well down the out side from back in the field to run second, SIR SLICK ran a blinder to come from an unfamiliar 3rd last at the 600 to fly home down the outer and be 1 length away in third. VEYRON is a 5 year old gelding by THORN PARK - OVER THE LIMIT, he was trained by Linda Laing and ridden by Rogan Norvall. Linda Laing, " Dad and I have had a lot of success with the family so that is great and Mrs Ancill would be over the moon. I'm especially pleased for Rogie, not many people know it but he turned down a really lucrative job offer in Sydney to stay home and ride him so thanks Rogie. Lumpy would be so pleased." Rogan Norvall, " It's like having your first winner aye, it's very good. It's pretty exciting, we have always had great hope in this horse and he has stepped up well today and really proved himself. He has jumped and put himself right there, he pulled a little bit hard but we had no cover, I wasn't really worried, once we got to the top of the hill he settled nice and it was just a matter of time when to ask him the question. He is so big and he has got so much speed, he just jumps and put himself there without doing anything and can run sectionals effortlessly. We always go in to win these kind of races and when you pull one off it's just the icing on the cake." It was Rogan Norvall"s first Group 1 success. Media Images![]() |
