The Listed Dixon & Dunlop NZ St Ledger was taken out by VIKJA KING at Trentham today.

Trained by Gary Freeman and ridden by Buddy Lammas the 4 year old gelding by VIKING RULER - LITHE was settled at the back of the field on the rail early, he swept around the field on the home turn and a sustained staying effort saw him overhaul favorite DEPUTY close to home and go to the line winning by 3/4 length, DEPUTY was also a nice staying run coming from back in the field to hit the lead at the 200 meter mark, ASCOLINI finished well and was 1/2 a length away in third. They ran the 2500 meters in 2.34.98

Gary Freeman, " It's great, really great, I brought his mother two years ago at Karaka, he came up for sale this horse and I liked the look of him so I brought him. He is out of a ZABEEL mare and is by VIKING RULER who is a beautifully bred staying horse. He worked brilliantly on Tuesday morning and Jade Rodgers said he will be hard to beat, he was right." Gary has had a great week, he picked up the Waverly Cup with AINTREE during the week.
