YOSEI wins the Group 1 Schweppes 1000 Guineas at Caufield. In a great ride by jockey Michelle Payne the filly by Invincible Spirit and trained by Stuart Webb settled back of midfield on the fence, she had to negotiate a couple tight gaps on the turn when improving and switched off the heels of the leaders in the straight to go on and win impressively by 2 lenths, with HEATSAREFORLOVE second and 1 length back to BRAZILLIAN PULSE third.

Michelle Payne becomes the first female jockey to win the 1000 Guineas.
